Abdominoplasty is a surgical procedure that creates a firmer belly by removing loose skin and fat from the abdominal wall. It can be combined with liposuction to enhance the silhouette and overall shape of the midsection. This procedure is especially rewarding after pregnancy or significant weight loss resulting in sagging skin.

Prince George Surgery Centre offers a number of different types of abdominoplasty, based on the patient’s needs and surgeon’s recommendation.

The mini-tummy tuck focuses on the area below the navel. This technique creates the least scarring and may result in a shorter recovery period. However, it provides less skin- and muscle-tightening than a regular tummy tuck.

Full abdominoplasty is performed by making a horizontal incision below the navel and removing excess skin and fat while tightening the abdominal muscles. This creates a firmer, flatter midsection.

Major abdominoplasty, or the “fleur-de-lis” tummy tuck, is used for patients with significant abdominal sagging. This method requires both a horizontal and a vertical incision, allowing the surgeon to remove more skin and fat from the patient.
