An otoplasty, or ear tuck, is a procedure to change the shape, position, or size of your ears. At Prince George Surgery Centre, we commonly treat patients who are dissatisfied with their look due to misshapen or disproportionate ears, or ears that “stick out” too far. Birth defects or injuries, like cauliflower ear or severe lacerations, can cause deformities that make patients uncomfortable.
Cosmetic surgery can help. During otoplasty, the surgeon makes an incision just behind the ear, and reshapes the cartilage along the largest and deepest part of the external ear so that it can rest flatter against the head. Permanent, internal sutures are used to secure the ear in its new place.
Our team can also repair ‘gauged’ earlobes, which is an outpatient procedure performed under local anesthetic. Learn more.
